ATYAP – The Australian Thai Youth Ambassadors Program was a one month long BUiLD: Abroad trip to Thailand that I was lucky enough to be accepted into. The program consisted of three amazing weeks teaching English to primary and high school students in Ubon Ratchathani (within the north-east region of Thailand) followed by one week of jam-packed ambassadorial events such as meeting sponsors and promoting the program in Bangkok. We were also allowed free time for our own recreational activities.

To me, ATYAP was so much more though; sure, I was teaching English to children, but I was also getting to know them, putting smiles on their faces and being overwhelmed by their boundless energy and love. The people I met along the way, the lifelong friends I made, the once-in-a-lifetime experiences and the personal growth I made, hold a special place in my heart. I would definitely recommend ATYAP to anyone who is enthusiastic about making a global change and helping others. This video means a lot to me as it represents one of the most pivotal moments throughout my university life and making it brought back all the memories from the trip as if it were yesterday.

Of course, none of this would have been possible without the amazing Angelica Casado who poured her heart and soul into preparing and running the program every year! Many thanks #ATYAP2016
