Blistered, Twisted, and Fractured
It’s always fascinated me how much athletes push their bodies to a state of physical exertion where they break or hurt themselves. They put so much pressure on themselves mentally to succeed and the compromise of that is hurting themselves. I started documenting my injuries when I was training for nationals because one of my friends got such a serious infection that she nearly had to have a partial finger amputation. This influenced the way I thought about the impact of sport on my body and the way athletes are conditioned to cope with pain.
