thirty-five millimetres

a

through the lens of your vintage camera

i loved how i looked

never staring directly,

you would catch me off-guard,

a smile whispering across

my face as i walked

through flowers with you

a

my favourite picture of us

captured

by a kind stranger

sun so bright, we are squinting

just a little,

holding each other,

perhaps

too scared to let go,

perhaps

just grateful to be held

a

now the photos are yellowing,

frayed

but whenever, wherever, know

i will always

be in those gardens

by the harbour

you and your camera

and me.
