Marie Svinos reckons you should get more out of Vivid than just pretty lights. She tells Vertigo why and more importantly HOW [hr]
The Vivid Sydney creative festival hits our city once again this year, with a stunning line up of show stopping visual and audio ensembles. With an array of incredible events lined up to be showcased across our gorgeous city, Vivid has enabled multiple creative brands and professional geniuses to both showcase their work and involve the public in the process. But don’t be fooled, there’s more to this event then what meets the eye (literally), while our Harbour Bridge is dancing and our Opera House is gleaming with fluorescents – there’s so much more going on during Vivid that could help ones career and understanding of the creative industries.
Celebrating its 10th year, highly prestigious and respected digital media event, X Media Lab, is hosting a Masterclass Series for both creative professionals and practitioners. The KR8VE Masterclass Series is structured across a three-day schedule over the 7th, 8th and 9th of June. X Media Lab have teamed up with UNSW College of Fine Arts and the International Symposium of Electronic Art (ISEA 2013) in bringing this event to life. Whether you’re an established creative executive or an aspiring practitioner, the KR8VE Masterclass Series caters to all who have an interest in making it big in the creative industries.
The event is split into two parts: The Highlights Day Conference and The Masterclass Weekend. X Media Lab are allowing many the opportunity to network with others as well as the chance to develop individual skills taught by global professional mentors. Big name representatives will be making their way to Sydney from all around the globe for this event alone. This line up of mentors includes: Kristen Taylor – “Community Whisperer” extraordinaire for The Huffington Post, Al Jazeera and Foursquare, Michael Naimark – founding member of the Apple Multimedia lab and Alvin Wang Graylin – Co-founder of China’s most successful mobile search and mobile advertising company. There will be many more creative gurus attending the event, branching from all disciplines of creative fields such as innovation and design, digital technology, social and mobile media, transmedia and much more.
With so much to offer, the event that X Media Lab are presenting during Vivid Sydney can and will change the lives of many creative minds. Whether you’re starting from scratch or just need that extra push, experienced mentors and a networking platform can only benefit the future creative geniuses of Australia.
